Novant Health Says Aetna Misinformation Campaign A Smokescreen For Insurance Company’s Effort To Increase Profits At Expense of Healthcare Providers & Patient Care
Novant Health has challenged information released yesterday by Aetna Insurance Company as inaccurate, misleading and part of an effort to increase the insurance company’s profits at the expense of hospitals, patients and Aetna’s own insurance subscribers. Novant officials contend Aetna’s effort is clearly intended to intimidate the healthcare system as the two companies have just started negotiations on a new contract.
Forsyth Stroke and Neurosciences Center Opens Region's First Center to Diagnose and Treat Potential Stroke Victims
Forsyth Stroke and Neurosciences Center at Forsyth Medical Center (FMC) announced today it has opened the region's first center specializing in the diagnosis and treatment for those having pre-stroke symptoms, referred to medically as a Transient Ischemic Attack or TIA. TIAs are brief attacks that occur when a blood clot interrupts blood flow to the brain and often signal the potential for a more serious future stroke.
Body Weight Screening Program Finds Nearly 44% of Davie County Elementary & Middle School Students Screened Are Overweight or Obese
A body mass index (BMI) screening program sponsored jointly by the Davie County School System and Forsyth Medical Center's Sara Lee Center for Women's Health has found that 44 percent of Davie County elementary and middle school students are overweight or obese. The screenings, conducted last October and November, included more than 1,800 Davie County first, third, fifth and seventh graders.

Novant Health and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center said today they have resolved the issues regarding the provision of healthcare services in western Forsyth County and in Davie County.
