Dr Connect provides service to outlying facilities who want to transfer patients to FMC or consult with a specialist about a patient.  It has a 24/7 toll free service phone line staffed by the Call Navigators and Registered Nurses at Call-A-Nurse who assist with all transfer needs such as connecting Providers with FMC Physicians, arranging transportation, and bed placement.  It offers one number to call for friendly assistance: 877-296-2333 and handles approximately 220 transfer admissions per month to Forsyth Medical Center.

How does it work?

Providers from outlying hospitals, clinics or offices simply call the toll free Dr. Connect line to request a specialty physician (i.e. neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, internal medicine, etc.).  Providers are connected to the FMC Physician via a conference call while the Dr. Connect staff remains on the line to gather pertinent information and assist with further needs.  Dr. Connect staff handles remaining details such as arranging Critical Care Transport and bed placement at FMC.  The Providers are notified when the bed is ready or when the patient arrives at FMC.

What is the expectation of the Forsyth Medical Center Physician?

The FMC Physician is the receiving Provider for Dr. Connect and is expected to respond to pages from the Dr. Connect staff within 5 minutes.

Forsyth Medical Center strives to gladly and courteously accept all transfer requests.  It is expected that the FMC Physician will comply in a likewise fashion also.
